How to Apply for the HCC Apprenticeship Program

Minimum Qualifications

Before applying for HCC in-House apprenticeship, applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Age: 18
    Applicants must provide evidence of minimum age respecting any applicable State Laws or regulations.
  • Education: Applicant shall be a high school graduate, or its equivalent. They must possess the English language speaking and reading ability.
  • Physical: Applicants will be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the apprenticeship program as required by the sponsoring house. Applicants may be required to pass a [physical agility test, fitness test, or screen for the current illegal use of drugs on acceptance into the program and prior to being employed.

Selection into the apprenticeship program will be in accordance with the selection procedures defined by the local apprenticeship program and in accordance with Title 29 CFR 30.5.

The term of the occupation shall be the satisfactory completion of the work processes as listed in these Standards and shall be a period of 6,000 hours (3 years) supplemented by the required hours of related instruction.

As for school instructions, the Apprentices must complete a total of 455 contact hours of school over the term of apprenticeship. Generally, the best source of instruction is from a community college or vocational technical post-secondary institution.


Candidates who meet the above minimum requirements should proceed to:

  1. Fill out the Apprenticeship application
  2. Fill out the job employment record form
  3. E-mail forms to:


  1. Qualifying applicants will be contacted for interview process.
  2. After the initial interview, HCC will start the employment verification of these individuals.
  3. Once applicant’s employment is verified, they will be sent for a no charge but immediate drug test.
  4. Approved applicants will be contacted for a second interview.
  5. Applicants with the best credentials will be given the opportunity for the apprenticeship and employment at HCC.

The hired individuals will have a 3 month probation period before being registered with the AMERICAN CULINARY FEDERATION AS AN APPRENTICE.
